How is the Glue Platform Hosted?Horizontal Systems Inc. provides a web hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) using our Glue Servers. By hosting the models on our servers, software updates are automatically made available to the user upon login.
How is Glue licensed (server and client side) and what are the rough costs?Glue is licensed on a per user per month subscription. The Collaborate Application is provided with the base user license and the Exchange, Estimate and Schedule apps are available by request for a nominal fee. Contact us to speak with a Sales agent and inquire about our Enterprise level licenses.
Can Glue handle multiple people viewing the same model and adding markups at the same time?Yes. As a web-based platform, the user experiences real-time information. Our records module in the Collaborate App keeps track of every activity, tagging it with the user and date and time stamp.
What file formats does it accept?Glue is compatible with upwards of 40 different 2D and 3D file formats. For full list, go to Services, Support and click on File Compatibility.
How does it deal with revisions to the BIM model and uploading those?Glue displays the most recent version of the model while still retaining all previous iterations. This automated version control tags each update with a username and time stamp and enables users to browse the history and load past models to compare design changes.
Is there any offline functionality?Yes there is an offline mode available
The website mentions clash-detection - is this being done within Glue or is it done by the client and then uploaded?Web-based clash detection is done directly in the Collaborate App in Glue, enabling all the project participants to engage in design coordination and at earlier stage in the project- reducing the number of clashes that have to be resolved during coordination meetings.
If customization is required, is this done by Horizontal or is there an API?We have developed customized apps for some of our clients, and we provide this as a service.
How do I install Glue?Step 1: Open Internet Explorer and go to www.horizontalglue.com Step 2: Fill out the form requesting basic user information and click “Install” Step 3: Enter the Login Credentials we provide you with
What do I do if I am having problems running the Install?Please check with IT about download permissions and firewalls. You may need to add www.horizontalglue.com (216.227.221.138) to the security’s safe list
How do I upload my models?There are 3 ways to upload models: 1. Upload Button 2. Drag and Drop 3. Using Plug-in Buttons
Where do I go to download the plug-ins?Go to http://horizontalglue.com/glueplugins/to install plug-ins. Choose 32 bit or 64 bit, depending on your machine. Once download is complete, open the authoring BIM application & Horizontal’s Glue Icons will appear integrated in the ribbon under Add-ins or Horizontal.
